July is already well under way and we have been quite busy. Flying almost everyday and showing people a good time. The camps have been running smooth and the fishing has been good. Numbers have been up and down depending on the weather and fishing experience but every group that has come out of the bush has had big smiles and lots of stories to tell. Big walleyes are becoming more active and the northerns are t-boning walleyes on the way to the boat! Most of the fish seem to be in 8-12 feet of water in the narrows and at the mouths of bays. If they are not there, they are usually near the edges of the weed beds, sometimes in 3-4 feet of water. Typical areas for this time of year. I actually got to go fishing last week with my friends on Cherrington and had a great day! Our biggest fish for the day were a 25 and 27 inch walleye with lots in the 20-22 inch range. We caught a lot of fish, don’t count numbers but we went through 3 tubs of bait that day, so we caught plenty.

There are still some forest fires burning in Ontario and Manitoba and we need some rain. Rain is in the forecast in the next few days so we are doing a rain dance almost everyday. Water levels are down but the rains we have had are keeping water levels up to a decent level.
There is no fires burning near our camps at the moment, just further away which at times can give some smoke but that changes daily depending on the wind. Sometimes we have to fly a bit out of our way to navigate the smoke but everyone lately has been able to get in and out the day that they were supposed to. If we get delayed due to rain….. we are not going to complain :)
