2024 has been a good season so far. The weather has straightened out which makes for awesome fishing and easier flying to get our guests to and from the bush. We are still getting some rain every few days but it is normally a line of storms and then passes. This should help maintain water levels and keep the fire ban off. The berries are ready in most places, 2 weeks or so late as most things have been behind all season. Lets hope that the rainy fall weather also holds off until we slow down in September.
Fishing has been great with large walleyes being caught consistently and plenty of 36-40 inch pike as well, normally while fishing for walleye. The fish have moved away from the weedy shorelines and bays to the rocky points and shorelines. Walleyes have mainly been caught in 9-15 feet of water recently and should just slowly work their way to deeper water as the heat continues.
As our world gets more and more insane, our guests are appreciating spending time away from cell service and the internet more and more. To offer such a place for people to get away from these signals and spend uninterrupted time together makes us feel good inside. On the way in to their lake, the focus is mostly on the fishing. On the way out, the conversation is generally starts with the fishing but then turns to the scenery, the silence, the wildlife and then to how special the time spent up there is. It is good for your soul to be in such a place and we work hard to make sure that all of our guests get the best possible experience with little to no problems around the camp. Most of our guests are returning customers and appreciate our outposts and equipment and treat them as their own. This goes a long way when it comes to an outpost experience and we appreciate that.

My Nephew, Trent is getting married this fall and wanted to have his bachelor party with us. 7 of them spent 4 days at Loree Lake last week and had a blast. This was their second trip with us and they are hooked. This will be a yearly event for these boys. Having coached most of them in hockey and giving them crap over the years, I was not shy in telling them to go slow and to not be hitting rocks, as well as to make sure the cabin is spotless and that they were ready to go when the airplane arrived. They did an amazing job on cleaning, were ready to go and caught tons of fish. This year they caught more big fish and more fish in general than they did last year.
Here are a few of the big ones they caught.
