Here we are, it seems like last week we were opening camps and welcoming guests and now it is almost July. Time goes fast when you are busy. Things have been going well, fishing has been great, the sun shines every other day and it rains every other day and our guests have been happy. We couldn’t ask for much more.
Since we have not had a lot of real hot weather, the fish have stayed relatively shallow. Less than 10 feet for the most part. The Big Walleyes have been more active each week with some big fish being caught and released. This past week we had a couple of 30 plus inch walleye as well as a bunch in the 27-29 inch range. The bigger pike have been hanging out with the walleyes as usual and there has been a number of 40-45 inch pike caught throughout the camps.
Last week we had an opportunity to go up north and spend the night. Rena and I took the boys and Dustee but had to do some work before we could head out fishing. We had to wait out a rain shower but when we got out, Jack wanted to go to Jack’s Rock. Halfway down walleye alley on the east side, there is a small island with one Jack Pine tree on it. The wind had been blowing in there all day so we just pulled up on the rock and fished from shore.

We caught a fish on the first cast! And continued to catch fish almost every cast for an hour and a half. George caught a few then he was done. He was the releaser after that. Jack was the one on a roll. He had a fish on every cast, many of them got off right by the rock but we were just catching for fun.

It was a good day, we got our work done, caught a bunch of fish and had a fire with Smores! It feels great to have come full circle back to where it all started at Cherrington with our kids and now we are doing it all again as Grandparents.

We had a one time guest contact us who writes his own blog. He wrote a blog about his experience with us. He was a new guest and found us online. Here is the link to his blog which explains pretty much what the experience is like when you fish with us at Amik Outposts.
