It feels like yesterday that Rena and I were unemployed, had a 5 day old baby and went to work at Amik Lodge in Deer Lake with my Mom and Dad. We packed a couple of bags, jumped in the 185 and were off to the bush. We never left.
Here we are 30 years later, that same baby is now 30 and working for Amik. It is great to see how life can make a full circle. We have seen plenty of crazy shit in 30 years but we have enjoyed every minute of it. Remembering the good times and learning from the bad ones. The key to a happy life. This has never been a job to us, it is just what we do. During this lifetime we have met so many great people and have became friends with many of them. Plenty of our fishermen to this day fishermen were booked at a Sportshow by my Dad and still fish with us. We owe all of our success to these faithful fishermen who have returned to us each and every year, through the Bruce years and beyond. Some of them are up in the bush right now!
We would like to thank everyone who has fished with us over this time and look forward to the future. Taina and Aaron, along with Jack and George, have been here for 5 years already and are on board, working towards being the best outfitters in the industry. To be a good outfitter is not rocket science but it takes a lot of sacrifice, perseverance, determination and most of all planning. We make a great team and when you get to our base to make your flyin trip, you will see and feel the family atmosphere. We have always cared about our guests and have always done our best to make sure they had a great time.

We started the season on May 8 or 9th and hit the ground running. We had a good stretch of weather to open camps which was awesome. The water levels are comfortably high which is nice and we have had some rains to green up the forest. There are no fires anywhere in our area. If you have smoke down by you, it is not from us, no fire ban at all. you can have shorelunches and campfires as long as you use common sense. Although it is supposed to snow today….. Sometimes May does that to you.
There was an extra set of hands also this year for opening camps, Jack skipped school for a few days and George came up for 4-5 days also. They learn more with us doing work than they do in school anyways. My Brother and Sister in-law also came to help open camps this year for the first time, so we had lots of help. Of course we usually find some time to catch a few fish if the weather is nice.

All of the camps are open and we are well into the swing of things making sure we have all the details looked after at the camps and also for each and every group of fishermen including bait, beverages and everything in between.
