Here we are already into August and down to our last 4 or 5 weeks of being really busy before it slowly winds down. The weather has been great, sunshine and warm temps. The fishing has been awesome. And our guests have been all smiles. The fire ban came off a couple of weeks ago as we continue to get rain every few days so our guests have been happy to have shorelunch again and a fire in the evening. It really adds to your trip. A fire while in the bush is essential. A fishermen who came out today said “This is so much more than a fishing trip to us. It is an experience.”
The fish have been staying in less than 20 feet of water, sometimes near the weeds but also off of the windy points. Pretty much everywhere according to most guests. Numbers have been good for walleyes and the pike have been down there with them. Most larger pike have been caught while walleye fishing as usual.
The water levels are very low, even with the rain we have had. The warm temperatures evaporate lots of it as it runs towards Hudson Bay. All of our lakes are located on deep water so the fishing stays awesome even when the water goes low. We have added a couple of floating docks to some camps to make it easier to get to shore. Typically we start to get back into more of a rainy season as the end of August gets here. The water then starts to come back up and will recover over the winter with the snow. The cycle of life in the north.
Here are a few pictures we have received from our guests recently.
