It has been sunny and warm up here lately and we have been very busy. Lots of flying and lots of smiling faces. We did get some much needed rain which lower our forest fire risk and maintained water levels. Fishing has been pretty awesome. We continue to have experienced fishermen coming out of the bush saying that this was their best year yet! The feeling of the fast and furious action is euphoric. Sunshine and fantastic fishing is a perfect combination for being on vacation.
Walleye action has never been better. Numbers have been good at all the lakes and the size continues to go up. More 26 to 29 inch walleye showing up around the north. There are still big pike being caught but they are slowing down a little bit as they head for deeper water since it has been so warm They are still there, you just need to fish deeper. Most 40 plus inchers were caught while fishing for walleye but some were caught in the early morning or just at dark up in the windblown bays near deeper water.
The Northern Lights have also been active. Apparently there is lots of sun storm activity and they are going to be out more often. If you have an up coming trip be sure to keep an eye on the sky when you head out to splash your boots. 🙂
Here are some pictures from the Vincent party who stayed at our Cobham Daniel cabin last week. They had simply awesome fishing. During one really windy day they caught an absolute ton of fish in 3 feet of water and had no issues catching fish!
