Rena and John,
Thanks again for the great fishing trip to Cobham. This was our 25th year fishing with Amik Outposts and it proved to be one of the best years ever! The fishing was absolutely fantastic.
Six of us caught 90 pike over 27″, with a huge number of those being over 35″. We caught 2-40 inchers and our biggest pike was 43″. We finished the last night by boating a 37″ pike while fishing with a jig for walleye. I had a 14″ walleye on my jig when the pike took it. We tried to horse it into the net but it let go when it saw the net. I then cast out the walleye that was still on the hook and the pike hit it again. This time we really horsed the combo and were able to get part of the pike into the net before it let go of the walleye. But James was able to use all of his 6’6″ reach to land the pike.
The walleye fishing was also on fire. We caught 98 walleye 20″ and over. The walleye were on the structure as usual but often hit spoons on the edge of the weed beds. We caught several walleye over 23″ on spoons when fishing for pike. My son James won the Big Walleye plaque, and I won the Big Pike plaque and James won the Undisputed Fisherman of the Year Belt! I have attached a group of photos from the week.
Thanks again for the great trip and experience. We look forward to seeing you again next year.
Thanks Brent.
