It has been a steady schedule for us this summer. It has been great to see all of our guests but the time has flown by and here we are into August already headed for home stretch, soon it will be fall.
Fishing has been exceptional and easy. Most lakes have had the majority of the fish caught in 10 feet of water or less the entire season so far. Just recently is when I have heard guys saying that they are catching fish in 12 to 15 feet. I am not sure if all the rain has kept the water cooler or if the high water level has anything to do with the depth but all I know is that it is easy to catch fish right now. Trophy walleyes are being caught more often recently up to 30 inches in the last couple of weeks. Trophy pike took a bit of a break during the hottest part of the summer which is normal but they too have started to become more active as the days become shorter. A number of pike attacks were reported in the last week which tells me that they are getting ready for fall, fattening up on tasty walleye….
Many of our guests coming back from the bush have commented how great it is to be away from cell service and the internet. To be completely out of touch, no one can reach you until you return. Their bodies feel much better after the first couple of days of being in the sunshine and fresh air, they forget about their phones and the pressures of life seem to fade away. We have been saying this for years, “Being in the Bush is good or your Mind, Body and your Soul”
When you are booking a trip to an outpost the fishing is usually the main reason you want to go. Once you have been to this beautiful place away from the signals and pressures of life, the fishing becomes a bonus. Just being there becomes the reason.
Here are a few more pictures from some of our guests who have been up recently.
