Another season is underway at Amik Outposts! We have had mostly good weather for getting the camps ready with the exception of a Colorado Low that gave us a day of rain followed by a day of snow the day before our first fishermen headed into the bush. We have had a comfortable amount of time to prepare and have had fishermen at the outposts since Tuesday.
The first fishing report!
The fishing this week was as I expected after a very cold few days with a few inches of snow dropped into the water, to was slow to start. The water was warming up nicely with the sun prior to the bad weather and the walleye would have been close to spawning and the northerns should have been done I would expect. The weather would have delayed things a few days, I told the guys to expect slower fishing at the beginning and it would get better everyday.
Thats exactly what happened. The caught smaller fish at the start of their trip and it gained strength each day with warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine. The pike size they caught grew everyday from 30 inches, in every increment all the way up to 41 inches! Walleye played the same game, by the last day they caught walleye measuring up to 28 inches. Some of the larger walleye at the end of the week appeared skinnier, so hopefully the spawn is almost over and we will be ready for a season of catching as they start to feed heavily. I hope you are ready. We are ready for you. 🙂
We have had a few calls regarding travel insurance. We do not handle any of this. It is just something you should look into before any international trip. I am sure there are many insurance companies you can choose from but one of our guests has recommended AIG. Here is the link. http://www.travelguard.com/travel-tips/tips-for-before-depart/
We are not endorsing them or anyone. The decision is yours, we just want you to be prepared for the “What if”.
Looking forward to another awesome season!!!!!
