We have been moving happy fishermen to and from the camps at a feverish pace lately. Mother nature has been kind this season, giving us warm temperatures and mostly sunshine. The fishing has been spectacular on some lakes and pretty good on others. Getting better with each sunny day.
The walleye have spawned on most of the lakes but some of the deeper ones they are just finishing up. Some great numbers have been reported, One boat told me they caught 130 fish in one hour and another guy said he caught 3 fish in 30 seconds in 3 feet of water. The fish will make their usual transitions as the summer moves on.
Northerns have been becoming more aggressive each day and the 40 plus inchers are around and becoming more active also. The guys from Cobham Morley said the most fun they had with the pike when they got into a bunch of 32-26 inch pike, linebackers, they called them because they fight so hard. The 40 plus inch fish are the offensive linemen big and strong but don’t have the stamina.
The water levels are high everywhere but not too high. Just perfect for this time of year. Lets hope the rain stays the way it has been, once a week!
Oh ya….. the mosquitoes showed up!
Here are some pictures of the big ones so far.
Blackbirch Lake, Collins Boys. “Too many walleyes in that lake!”
Cherrington Lake. Daake Party. Good times and some BIG fish.
Matt looks like he filled all the categories for the triple threat in the 3 pictures below!
Same spot!
Cobham Lake. Brown party had a great time. Last group to be there last fall, first group in this spring. “This was a completely different lake”
