Happy New Year!
Each winter between Christmas and New Years we have a tournament in Lundar. A good time of the year when everyone is around and willing to abuse their bodies in 2 days of hockey! Our team, the Folded Falcons, with a core of the last 6 guys that I played with during the last season of the existence of our hockey league. We ended up having 7-8 skaters for our 4 games. This is the 4th year of this tournament and we have never lost! Although this year we were pretty close. Yesterday we were down 4-0 in our first game but ended up coming back to win. Our second game was just as bad. We were behind for the entire game and were down 5-3 with 4 minutes to go. It would have been nice to coast our way to an easy victory but we had to really put the push on to make a come back. Not easy after drinking beer and playing so much. I don’t score many goals but dented the mesh with a ugly pinball goal to tie it with 1:30 left to go. We had to settle for a tie but it was better than a loss!
The weather up here has been dry and mild! Hardly any snow. An easy winter for the deer and moose. It was a down year during deer season up here. Last winter was very hard on our deer herd. Lets hope they rebound quickly, Our local deer head party saw way fewer heads than normal. Here are some of the big ones.
